USD, live from GET /v1/catalog/media. Clip columns are the no-sound rate times the length; add the difference for sound. The 4K models have one price with or without sound.

Kling 3.0, 3.0 Turbo and O3 bill by the second: a clip of 3 to 15 seconds costs its length times the rate, set when the request is accepted. The aspect ratio, a start frame, elements and multi-shot change nothing; sound does, on every model but the 4K ones. Prices on this page are read from the catalog when the page is built, at most five minutes old, and a top-up locks your rate for 30 days.

USD per clip, live from GET /v1/catalog/media. These models take duration 5 or 10 and nothing in between.

The older models are priced per clip, not per second: Kling 2.6 is $0.4063 for 5 seconds without sound and $0.8125 for 10, which is $0.0813 a second either way. Kling 2.5 Turbo Pro at $0.2625 and Kling 2.1 Standard at $0.1875 for 5 seconds are the lowest-priced Kling clips on the key; both make silent video, and 2.1 needs a start image.

Kling O1 Image Edit$0.0219$0.0219—reference images, elements, 9 aspect ratios, up to 9 images a request

USD per image, live from GET /v1/catalog/media. 1K and 2K are one price; 4K is on the O3 models only.

Kling O3 Image is $0.0219 an image at 1K or 2K and $0.0438 at 4K, which puts a thousand 2K images at $21.90. The image models answer OpenAI's image endpoint as well as the generations endpoint, so the OpenAI SDK's images.generate works with the model id swapped in. The text-to-image list puts them next to Nano Banana, Seedream and GPT Image.

Kling API key: two ways to get one

The API runs on Kling's own platform or through a provider that resells the models. Both bill for the seconds you render. The difference is the minimum you pay up front, how long the credit lasts, and which other models the key reaches.

From Kling

  1. Open the Kling developer platform and sign in to the API Console.
  2. Buy a resource package on the pricing page: the smallest is $700 for 5,000 units, valid 180 days with no rollover, 20 concurrent tasks; 30,000 units and up are 10% off (read 2026-10-19).
  3. Create a key under API Key, and send tasks to Kling's own endpoints, then poll the task id or take a webhook.
shell
# Kling's own console: https://kling.ai/dev -> API Console -> API Key
# Prepaid unit packages, 1 unit = $0.14 list, from $700 (5,000 units), 180-day validity
export KLING_API_KEY="..."

One key for Kling and every other model

  1. Sign in to the console and add credit, from $10. There is no subscription and the credit does not expire on a timer.
  2. Create a key. It calls every Kling model in the tables, every other video, image, speech and 3D model, and every chat model.
  3. Send the model and its settings to POST /v1/generations on our base URL, below.
shell
export UPLINK_API_KEY="sk-uplink-live-..."
# one base URL for every Kling model and every other model on the list:
# https://api.uplinkswitch.com/v1

Kling’s own API price, for comparison

Kling prices its API in units: 1 unit is $0.14 at list, $0.126 in the 30,000-unit package and up. The flagship video models bill per second by resolution and by whether the clip carries native audio. These are Kling's figures from its pricing page, read 2026-10-19; our per-second table above is what the same models cost here.

Kling's own per-second rates in units (u) and dollars at the $0.14 list unit, from kling.ai/dev/pricing, read 2026-10-19. Kling's page also lists Motion Control (0.9 to 1.2 u), Avatar (0.4 to 0.8 u) and e-commerce solutions, which are not on this key.

Kling 3.0 Omni is the model sold here as Kling O3. Without video input and without audio Kling bills it at $0.084 a second at 720p and $0.112 at 1080p; here Kling O3 Standard is $0.0625 and O3 Pro $0.0813 a second without sound, $0.0813 and $0.10 with it. At 4K Kling bills $0.42 a second for 3.0 and Omni alike; here Kling 3.0 4K and O3 4K are $0.3125 and $0.3125. Kling 3.0 Turbo is $0.14 a second at 1080p with audio on Kling's page and $0.1375 here as Turbo Pro. Kling's older models (2.6, 2.5, 2.1) and its image models are priced behind the page's "More Pricing" link, so for those the tables above show our price only.

Read from each model’s settings at GET /v1/catalog/media when the page was built.

  • sound: native audio, dialogue and ambience generated with the picture. Required on Kling 3.0, O3 and 2.6; it picks the price tier.
  • kling_elements: a list of element objects, each a named character or object with its reference images, so the same face or product holds across shots. On Kling 3.0 and O3. The shape follows Kling's element-reference docs; the model page lists it as a list of objects.
  • multi_shots and multi_prompt: set multi_shots to true and pass a list of shots, each with its own prompt and duration. The clip is billed at the larger of duration and the shots' total, so a 3-second duration cannot buy a 15-second storyboard. Kling 3.0 Turbo takes up to 6 shots.
  • image_urls: a start frame, or a start and an end frame, on Kling 3.0 and O3; a start frame on 2.6, which takes the end frame as end_image_url. Kling 2.1 is image-to-video only: start_image_url is required.
  • reference_image_urls: O3 only, up to 4 images the model draws style and subject from without using them as frames.
  • aspect_ratio: 1:1, 16:9, 9:16 on the 3.0 and O3 models; the 4K models and Kling 2.5 Turbo Pro decide the frame from the input.

Make a Kling 3.0 clip

Send the model and its input to POST /v1/generations. The answer comes back at once, 202, with the generation id and the price. On Kling 3.0 and O3, duration, sound and multi_shots are required; everything else has a default.

shell
curl https://api.uplinkswitch.com/v1/generations \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $UPLINK_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "model": "kling-3.0-standard",
    "input": {
      "prompt": "A tram crossing a wet city square at dusk, neon reflections, camera tracking alongside",
      "duration": 5,
      "sound": true,
      "multi_shots": false,
      "aspect_ratio": "16:9"
    }
  }'

# 202 with the generation id and the price already set, 5 units of a second:
# {"id": "gen_...", "status": "queued", "model": "kling-3.0-standard", "charge": {"amount_usd": "...", "units": 5, "unit": "second"}}

Poll the generation until its status is succeeded or failed; it passes through running and finalizing on the way, usually within a few minutes for a 5-second clip and longer for 15 seconds or 4K. A finished one lists its file URL in outputs.

shell
curl https://api.uplinkswitch.com/v1/generations/gen_... \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $UPLINK_API_KEY"

# "status" moves queued -> running -> finalizing -> succeeded (or failed, which is refunded);
# the finished clip is the first entry in "outputs":
# {"id": "gen_...", "status": "succeeded", "outputs": [{"url": "https://api.uplinkswitch.com/v1/files/media/...", "content_type": "video/mp4", "bytes": 9876543}]}

Kling API in Python: a multi-shot clip

The generations endpoint is plain JSON over HTTPS, so requests is all you need. This script asks Kling O3 Pro for three shots of four seconds each with sound, then reads the generation back until it is done.

kling_multishot.py
import os, time, requests

BASE = "https://api.uplinkswitch.com/v1"
HEADERS = {"Authorization": f"Bearer {os.environ['UPLINK_API_KEY']}"}

# A multi-shot clip: three shots, 4 + 4 + 4 seconds. Billing is the larger of "duration"
# and the shots' total, so this clip is 12 seconds.
gen = requests.post(
    f"{BASE}/generations",
    headers=HEADERS,
    json={
        "model": "kling-o3-pro",
        "input": {
            "duration": 12,
            "multi_shots": True,
            "multi_prompt": [
                {"prompt": "Wide shot: a lighthouse on a cliff at dawn, gulls circling", "duration": 4},
                {"prompt": "Medium shot: the keeper opens the iron door, wind pulls at his coat", "duration": 4},
                {"prompt": "Close-up: his hand on the brass lamp as it flares to life", "duration": 4},
            ],
            "sound": True,
            "aspect_ratio": "16:9",
        },
    },
).json()
print("charged", gen["charge"]["amount_usd"], "for", gen["charge"]["units"], gen["charge"]["unit"] + "s")

while gen["status"] not in ("succeeded", "failed"):
    time.sleep(5)
    gen = requests.get(f"{BASE}/generations/{gen['id']}", headers=HEADERS).json()

if gen["status"] == "succeeded":
    print(gen["outputs"][0]["url"]) # the clip, served from https://api.uplinkswitch.com/v1 for 30 days
else:
    print("failed and refunded:", gen)

The same two calls work from any language: one POST, then GETs five seconds apart. The media guide has the endpoint in full, including the hourly sweep that finishes clips nobody polls.

Animate a still image

Put the frame in image_urls and write the prompt as the motion you want. On Kling 2.6 the price is the clip price, nothing extra for the image; on the per-second models it is the seconds you asked for.

shell
curl https://api.uplinkswitch.com/v1/generations \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $UPLINK_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "model": "kling-2.6",
    "input": {
      "prompt": "The dancer turns once and bows; stage lights sweep across the floor",
      "image_urls": ["https://example.com/dancer.jpg"],
      "duration": 5,
      "sound": false,
      "aspect_ratio": "9:16"
    }
  }'

A product shot, a portrait or a frame made by an image model on the same key all work. Make the still with Kling O3 Image, Nano Banana or Seedream in one call, pass its URL here in the next, and the pair is billed on one statement.

shell
curl https://api.uplinkswitch.com/v1/images/generations \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $UPLINK_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "model": "kling-o3-image",
    "prompt": "A ceramic teapot on a slate table, morning light from the left, 35mm look",
    "size": "16:9",
    "n": 2,
    "input": { "resolution": "2K" }
  }'

USD, our live price times the count, without sound. Each request makes one clip.

A $10 top-up is 32 silent 5-second clips on Kling O3 Standard, 14 on Kling 3.0 Turbo Pro, or 53 on Kling 2.1 Standard. Sound on Kling 2.6 nearly doubles the clip, $0.4063 to $0.75; on O3 Standard it adds $0.0188 a second.

Kling 3.0, O3 and 2.6: which to pick

  • Kling O3 Standard or Pro for most work: the lowest per-second price on the key for a model with sound, elements, multi-shot and reference images, and the one Kling itself calls 3.0 Omni.
  • Kling 3.0 Turbo Pro when you want many drafts fast: one price, no sound setting, up to 6 shots, and the price Kling quotes for its own Turbo at 1080p is within a cent of ours.
  • Kling 3.0 4K or O3 4K for a final render: $0.3125 a second with or without sound, under Kling's own $0.42 4K rate.
  • Kling 2.6 when you want a fixed price per clip with native audio and a start and end frame.
  • Kling 2.1 Standard to animate stills at the lowest price on the key: $0.1875 for 5 seconds, silent, start image required.

Timing and errors

  • POST /v1/generations answers at once with the price set. A short clip is usually ready within a few minutes; poll every five seconds or so. 15-second, multi-shot and 4K clips take longer.
  • A request without a required setting (duration, sound and multi_shots on 3.0 and O3; start_image_url on 2.1), or with a duration outside the model's range, is refused with a 400 before anything runs.
  • 401 is a missing or revoked key. 402 is an empty balance or a key at its monthly spend limit, so top up or raise the limit in the console. 429 is the key's rate limit, or a busy model; the response says which, and a busy model is worth a retry in a minute.
  • A clip that fails is refunded in full, and one still unfinished after 6 hours is marked failed and refunded.
  • The file is an .mp4 on api.uplinkswitch.com, kept 30 days. Download what you want to keep.

Keep the key safe

Anyone holding the key spends your credit, and a 15-second 4K clip is real money. Keep the key in an environment variable or a secrets manager, out of git and out of code that runs in a browser: start the clip from your server and hand the finished URL to the page. A key can carry a monthly spend limit and a list of the models it may call, set in the console. If it leaks, revoke it there and create a new one.

Billing, receipts and the daily check

The price is charged when the request is accepted and refunded in full if the clip fails. Every charge sits on a signed receipt and a monthly statement you can check at /statements/verify. Whether each Kling model answered today is public at /proof, which calls every model on the list once a day. Every setting and price is on the model pages and at GET /v1/catalog/media. For Google's video models on the same key, the Veo 3.1 guide has the per-clip price next to Google's; the text-to-video list has every video model, Kling, Veo, Seedance, Wan and Grok Imagine included.

Questions

Does Kling have an API?
Yes. Kling's own developer platform (kling.ai/dev) sells API access as prepaid unit packages, from $700 for 5,000 units with 180-day validity, and bills its video models per second (read 2026-10-19). The same models are on this key from $10 of prepaid credit, priced per second or per clip in the tables above, through one POST /v1/generations call.
How much does the Kling API cost?
Here, per second: Kling 3.0 Standard $0.1688 without sound and $0.2438 with it, Kling 3.0 Pro from $0.2438, Kling O3 Standard $0.0625 and O3 Pro $0.0813 without sound, Kling 3.0 Turbo Pro $0.1375, and the 4K models $0.3125. Per clip: Kling 2.6 $0.4063 for 5 seconds without sound, Kling 2.5 Turbo Pro $0.2625, Kling 2.1 Standard $0.1875. On Kling's own platform 1 unit is $0.14 and Kling 3.0 runs 0.6 to 1.2 units a second at 720p and 1080p, 3.0 units at 4K (kling.ai/dev/pricing, read 2026-10-19).
How do I get a Kling API key?
Two ways. From Kling: sign in to the developer console at kling.ai/dev, buy a unit package and create a key under API Key; it calls Kling only. From here: add credit in the console, from $10, create a key, and send any Kling model id to POST /v1/generations on our base URL; the same key calls every other video, image, speech and chat model on the list.
Is Kling AI a Chinese company?
Kling is made by Kuaishou, the Beijing video platform company; its developer site carries a Beijing ICP registration. Through this key your request and the finished file pass through our servers and the clip is stored on api.uplinkswitch.com for 30 days; the model itself runs on infrastructure we do not name on the site.
Can I run Kling AI locally?
No. Kling publishes no weights, so there is no local or open-source build; the only routes are the Kling app, Kling’s own API and resellers of it. For an open-weight video model you can self-host, Wan is on this key too, priced per second on its model pages.
Is Kling AI completely free?
The Kling app advertises limited free access for consumers on its own terms. The API has never been free: Kling sells it in $700 unit packages, and here every clip bills at the price in the table, from prepaid credit with no subscription. A clip that fails is refunded.
Which Kling models make sound?
Every Kling 3.0 and O3 model takes a sound setting, true or false, and so does Kling 2.6; sound changes the per-second or per-clip price on all of them except the 4K models, which have one price. Kling 3.0 Turbo Pro and Turbo Standard, Kling 2.5 Turbo Pro and Kling 2.1 have no sound setting and make silent clips.
What is Kling 3.0?
Kuaishou's current flagship video model: clips of 3 to 15 seconds, native audio, element reference for consistent characters and objects, multi-shot storytelling from a list of shot prompts, and a 4K variant. Kling's own pages (kling.ai, read 2026-10-19) describe up to six camera cuts in one 15-second generation. Here it is kling-3.0-pro, kling-3.0-standard and kling-3.0-4k, with Turbo Pro and Turbo Standard as the faster, cheaper variants.
What is Kling O3?
Kling 3.0 Omni, the version that also takes reference images: up to 4 reference_image_urls plus 2 start and end frames, with the same 3 to 15 second range, sound, elements and multi-shot settings as Kling 3.0. Here it is kling-o3-pro, kling-o3-standard and kling-o3-4k, and the image side is kling-o3-image and kling-o3-image-edit.
What is Kling 2.6?
Kling's first model with native audio, launched in December 2025 per Kling's release notes (read 2026-10-19). Here it makes 5 or 10 second clips at one price per clip, with or without sound, and takes a first frame in image_urls and an end_image_url.
Where is the Kling API documentation and an example?
Kling’s own docs are at kling.ai/dev under API Documentation. For this key, every model page lists each setting with its values and price, GET /v1/catalog/media returns the same as JSON, and the curl and Python examples on this page are complete calls: one POST to start the clip, GETs until it is done.
How long can a Kling video be?
3 to 15 seconds on Kling 3.0, 3.0 Turbo and O3 here, set with duration; 5 or 10 seconds on Kling 2.6, 2.5 Turbo Pro and 2.1. Kling's developer site previews Kling 4.0 with native 30-second generation (kling.ai/dev, read 2026-10-19); it is not on this key yet, and Kling's own packages do not cover it either.
What if a clip fails?
It is refunded in full, automatically, and one still unfinished after 6 hours is marked failed and refunded. A request with a setting the model does not take is refused with a 400 before anything runs, and nothing is charged.
